An Interview with Morgana Gray

WMDG: "Ok bitch... what's your angle?"
Morgana: "There's no angle, I swear to god there isn't." She laughs and continues, "Well, maybe a little bit of one."

WMDG: "Uh huh, thought so. What is it you really want?"
Morgana: "Oh great, now I have Spice Girls playing in my head. Hold on, let me center..."

WMDG: "Take all the time you need."
Morgana: Closes her eyes and begins to breath deeply. After a few breathes she smiles and continues. You can see how the tension she had been under melted away. "Ok, where were we?"

WMDG: "What is it that you want out of all of this?"
Morgana Gray: "Real estate."

WMDG: So you're trying to capitalize on other people's misery?"
Morgana: "Nope, I'm trying to capitalize on my OWN misery."

WMDG: "Explain that."
Morgana: "Sure. What I want is a place that's big enough to house my business, myself, my family and run a production company. Ideally, we'd host people that would like to have meetings, drop by for coffee. Half business, part coffee shop and a little social club."

WMDG: "What kind of club?"
Morgana: "I like to crochet and read books, so it's like, I dunno... Grammy friendly? Nice chairs, comfortable. Hell, I got the first book for the Reading Club already picked out."

WMDG: "What is it?"
Morgana: "This changes everything by Naomi Klein. I saw her on The Colbert Report and I think she makes sense and needs people to hear what she's saying."

WMDG: "What else do you want?"
Morgana: "To be happy. To take the time to talk to people, crochet hats for babies, and drink coffee while doing what I do."

WMDG: "What is it that you actually do?"
Morgana: "I'm a writer, artist, teacher and general pain in the ass."

WMDG: "How will that help the community?"
Morgana: "Not only would I be a resident, but also the manager of a business."

WMDG: "Another white owned business?"
Morgana: "If you want to call me white, sure."

WMDG: "What else should we call it?"
Morgana: "Another woman-owned business, another fat-owned business, another Irish/Italian owner business, whatever label you want to slap on me for the sake of this interview."

WMDG: "I see your point."
Morgana: "I thought you would since we're only one person."

WMDG: "You got us there. What would you even call this business?"
Morgana: "The Chill Spot."

WMDG: "You've been thinking about this pretty hard, huh?"
Morgana: "It's all I do."

WMDG: "Some would call you an opportunist..."
Morgana: "And I've have to agree with them. I think I've found a simple way to help any community I work and live in, and be as happy as possible for as long as I can."

WMDG: "Simple?"
Morgana: "As simple as I can get. I like people, I like coffee and I like leaning new things. It's a hell of a way to spend the rest of my life, don't you think?"

WMDG: "You talk about a 5 year plan. What's that all about?"
Morgana: "In 5 years, I want to be able to enjoy a self-sustaining business, home and church..."

WMDG:"What kind of church?"
Morgana: "Multi-denominational. I celebrate a lot of holidays."

WMDG: "What religion are you?"
Morgana: "Does that matter?"

WMDG: "How would you support yourself?"
Morgana: "Hopefully with my graphic design and production company, but there are jobs available there that I'd like to apply for. I'm disabled, so I can't be trusted to drive a car or work heavy machinery. I'm a psycho when it comes to using a computer, data entry, office management, et cetera. I'd love to work at the local library if they'd have me, or do data entry for the local government."

WMDG: "So you support the government?"
Morgana: "I support any government that actually tries to help their people, not the ones that over-tax, over-charge and abuse their power."

WMDG: "What could you offer besides coffee and wi-fi?"
Morgana: "Local support and I'm a pretty good person to have around."

WMDG: "Are you?"
Morgana: "Most definitely."

WMDG: "Do you have any ideas on how to help the residents of Missouri?"
Morgana: "Sure. Just give me a topic."

WMDG: "Education..."
Morgana: "We could open a computer lab with access to educational software programs to children who need or want extra help. Projects like this could help raise test scores, and it's a great place for mothers to learn skills too. They'd get resume help, support, access to resources...."

WMDG: "Advertising..."
Morgana: "I can't wait to get to Missouri to show people how wonderful it can be. I fell in love with the place. I want to immerse myself in it, but it wasn't always that way. I've been converted. My bosses over at Moons Over Missouri..."

WMDG: "Shameless plug, much?"
Morgana: "Of course! They learned it from me! I'd be going to local events, everything from Cow Days to Frog Fest. I want to meet other business owners and find ways to connect and get the word out there that good people with small businesses are available and for the most part, want to help but aren't sure how to get involved."

WMDG: "Are you an expert on this?"
Morgana: "Not yet, but I plan to be one when I grow up."

WMDG: "For those who don't know, what is Moons Over Missouri?"
Morgana: "Moons Over Missouri is a YouTube show and small business. They talk about events and news stories, they discuss helpful living tips, and they're not afraid to be silly. I'm the General Manager and Lead Design Artist for the show. I'm also on there a lot, especially on Dirty Minds Mondays."

WMDG: "What's that?"
Morgana: "We play a game where Rhonda (Trout), reads a riddle that sounds dirty, but isn't. It makes you think of some ridiculous answers though. It's all in good fun."

WMDG: "Whom have you had on the show?"
Morgana: "Dianna Haedt from Ozark Area Trap Neuter Return, Beth Wiles from The Pulaski County Tourism Board and Tim Brandt from Dixon Weather Service so far. They're always looking to interview new people and would love to speak with Keith Rose (@KWrose on Twitter) and Lost Voices (@LostVoices14 on Twitter).

WMDG: "Why them?"
Morgana: "Because they are awesome, why not talk to them?"

WMDG: "Just them?"
Morgana: "Personally, I'd like to talk to everybody. I think everyone has a story, and I want to hear it."

WMDG: "How do you mean?"
Morgana: "Let's take the #YesAllWomen campaign. Turns out there's a whole lot more people who just want to speak out, to tell people, 'Don't be that guy." I think all of us have a story about how the 'system' that's in place now had screwed them over. It sure screwed ME over, and I had this feeling of shame and of being overwhelmed and lost. I felt powerless and voiceless. As it turns out, there are thousands, maybe millions of people who feel the same way.

WMDG: "Is this all about feminism?"
Morgana: "In the closest case, it's about me being a woman that wants to succeed in life and have an obituary to be proud of. If I can help others, I will."

WMDG: "I'll ask you again. What is it that you want?"
Morgana: "The knowledge that I am putting my skills as a teacher, an artist, and a decent person to good use and to have a roof over my head for myself and my support team."

WMDG: "Being a good person is a skill?"
Morgana: "Isn't it? I'm getting better every day, even if I am nosy, overbearing and a narcissist. Maybe because I am nosy, overbearing and a narcissist. I kinda like being a narcissist though."

WMDG: "Why?"
Morgana: "Look at me! I'm amazing! You want character references, I can provide those."

WMDG: "Who is this support team you keep talking about?"
Morgana: "My friends and family that not only are looking for a new life, a new opportunity for themselves, but who also want to help others. They help me a lot."

WMDG: "With what?"
Morgana: "Keeping me alive and happy."

WMDG: "What's in it for them?"
Morgana: "Keeping me alive and happy."

WMDG: "I think that's all that any of us really want."
Morgana: "I'm glad you agree with me, being the same person and all."

WMDG: "If you can help with getting Morgana to Missouri, please contact Moons Over Missouri or Morgana Gray or WMDG DARKGODDESS. Thank you so much for being on today."
Morgana: "Thank you."
